Animal Painting: The Ostrich and the Rhinoceros
The ostrich and the rhinoceros are material figures in a surreal atmosphere of my creation. They reveal the ambiguity of the man, in place of the average, faceless, gallery-goer who is filled with passion and malice. They fill the spaces that belong to the everyday life of being. That is the streets, the galleries, an animal painting, and in your home.
The rhinoceros and the ostrich are custodians in some cases and destructors in others.
Man is fundamentally free, but this freedom is coming from his nothingness. Each one of us is subject and object, we are self-aware and therefore are free, but we are at the same time constrained by the limitations put on us by societal expectations, by our bodies, and by our personal choices. The ostrich represents our being while shedding the constraints that limit our freedom. The ostrich is simply a physical form to replace the human that is immediately judged and categorizes upon first glance.
In my compositions, there is the continuous contraposition of opposite poles: classicism and symbolism, real and surreal in order to create a real provocation. The places that belong to humankind are now opened up to exotic animals, juvenile characters, and masterful works of art. In my fabricated reality, there is nothing that does not exist or belong. It is a dreamlike world of contrariety in every way.
The places where man consumes his existence are sometimes empty and sad. I feel it is my job as a painter to insert an artistic citation and in this way, give these places their lifeblood. Through the combination of my work and the masters before me, space is revived, and in turn, the artwork vivifies the space it inhabits.

In certain other spaces in which there is already an atmosphere of excessive irony and creativity, artistic quotations give balance to these compositions and lower the level of too much superficiality. Art is an instrument of expression and has been since early human forms. From the figures painted in caves thousands of years ago until the creations of today, art allows us to be defiant and bold while telling a story of the modern age and the history of humankind.
Of all the art that I have created, the viewer is an integral part of the conversation. I make an effort to invite the viewer into my paintings. Using perspective to relate the viewer to the other characters in the gallery, I create space where everybody painted, or breathing can interact. The ostrich and the rhinoceros are just as human as any figure I could have painted. They are filled with passion, malice, and lightness, just like you and me.
